Thoughts on this week's Daria episode

"I Don't"

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Finally, an episode that focused on Daria as opposed to anyone else. Meeting the Barksdales was fun, and much like I would have expected. Aunt Amy was great. It was obviously somewhere in the genes, and now we have an idea of what Daria may look like in the future. This was a very typical family event, where nobody knew what grade Daria was in, and someone got embarrasingly drunk- a few someones in that case. Daria's escort was very funny to me, because I know someone EXACTLY like Lerman to the T. The commentary on the clergy and the morals of the system was interesting. The groom reminds me of many grooms that I've come in contact with- horribly uninterested in the extended family. Erin, however, was like an older Quinn Clone. An added bonus for me was that the background music in the reception was one of my favorite swing bands, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. And there were no boys with really annoying voices, which was something that this ep had over all the others so far.

One teeny gripe: why couldn't Daria's dress fit? I know the explanation- to further distance herself from the ceremonies, but she could have bought the right size. That dress had to be at least a size, if not two, too big. Minor, minor complaint though.

Overall, probably the best one yet this season. Two thumbs up.

Eagerly anticipating next week,
